Micro-Macro Thinking and Circles of Compassion

I've long considered myself as having a micro-analytic mindset when working as a psychotherapist. By this I mean that I am fully engaged with the person in front of me and my toolkit consists of microsurgery, bone grafts and sutures necessary to repair the psychic injuries on an individual basis. Sparky Gets Recycled

This post is an update to the voyage through the perilous seas that I have been cast upon. My surgery has been postponed until Tuesday, 12 June, since the levels of my blood thinner medication are still too elevated.
In order to cope with my disappointment as to the delay, I have found an old coping skill that has served me well in the past. Read more


Sparky Goes to Surgery

By the time some of you will be reading this blog I will have been in surgery in order to replace my left hip which apparently has an old fracture that was exacerbated by my fall off my trike. Looking backwards I am aware that my gait had been steadily getting worse over the past three years: from walking with a limp to walking with a cane to walking with a walker. Using my ever present system of denial the idea of what this represented never crossed my conscious mind. Read more
